Home Builders Called for Revitalization

June 23, 2011 – Australian home builders and property developers were recently invited by the State Government to submit expressions of interest (EOI) for the revitalization of the Springs estate in Rivervale.

Mr. Brendon Grylls, Minister for Regional Development Lands, has required house builders and property developers to submit their interest for restoring a Rivervale estate of 14 hectares of under-utilized land by transforming it into a combination of residential and commercial estate.

The Rivervale estate that is going to be revitalized is located next to the Swan River in an estate called as ‘Springs Rivervale’

According to Mr. Grylls, the planned revitalized estate is being designed to become one of the most innovative residential and commercial developments in Perth that will offer a wide selection of townhouses; apartments; office as well as commercial buildings that will provide a chance for people to work and do social activities.

The Rivervale revitalization would reflect the State Government’s future planning vision for Perth that was mentioned in its Directions 2031 strategy released last year.

Mr. Grylls said, “Directions 2031 sets a clear vision for Perth to become a city with a vibrant mix of activity areas that bring amenities and employment to people’s doorsteps and well serviced by public transport.”

The first stage of the revitalization is set to include the release of three medium density residential sites that are along Hawksburn Road which will form the heart of the estate. Also included are the two mixed-use zoned sites that face the highly exposed Great Eastern Highway that is set to transform into either commercial or residential, over a total of nearly 1.6ha.

Submissions of expressions of interest are set to close late next month.

Construction of the Stage 1 buildings is expected to start early next year, as the lots at Springs Rivervale have already been created.

The completed revitalisation of Springs Rivervale will make up more than 1000 homes and 40,000 square metres of commercial floor space.
