June 4, 2010, Australia – HIA Queensland executive director, Warwick Temby, said that unclogging the land supply pipeline are the answers to their home building recovery.
This statement has been released after the announcement made by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) figures showing building approvals in Queensland were down 2.1 per cent (seasonally adjusted) in April.
With the number of detached house approvals declined by 5.4 per cent in April, to be down 2.4 per cent in the three months to April 2010 in comparison with the previous three month period. Even the said number of ‘other dwelling’ approvals increased by 5 per cent in April, and were up by 8.6 per cent in the three months to April on the previous three month period the total percentage reported that still the fall of the home building is continuous.
Master Builders’ director of Housing Policy, Paul Bidwell stated that he was quite disappointed to the release of the number of home building approval. He said that this is only the repetition over the 10 consecutive months of falling finance commitment figures for the construction and purchase of new dwellings.
