Members of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties celebrate their centennial with also a 100 community service project. Jay Schupack, executive director of the Master Builders Care Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the MBA cannot believe that they can do this the first time he heard about this.
This project was named as “100 for 100″ with all the home builders from different group together create and build new houses. These houses is for homeless families that has been living on the streets most of their lives. With the popular designed from HomeAid, they are building these houses for a better cause. Volunteers have been very passionate also with the project as they are continuously donating foods, supplies and etc for the home builders.
A new duplex in Issaquah for Compassion House will be given for the homeless families from different places. From a source according to John Day, owner of John Day Homes in North Bend said that with two three-bedroom apartments, the duplex is planned to open for the people in about six months.
“Everybody basically donates all of their overhead and profit and as much labour as possible. The care provider doesn’t have to go out and raise an inordinate amount of money to build these facilities. They can basically build it for half price” said Day, who served as the 2009 MBA president.
